Mobile Health Insurance Service.
Conventional health insurance in Cameroon covers a small proportion of the population whilst the larger proportion, made up of underemployed /unemployed with unskilled job occupations are without insurance coverage. These include workers of the informal sector who do not possess sufficient funds to subscribe for individual or family health insurance coverage. The few who can afford, have to go through all the hurdles of traditional health insurance processes and documentations; contributing and saving up huge sums of money for relatively little health benefits. With our MHIS project we aim at providing a platform that allows for every individual regardless of his/her social status (Including commercial bike riders, ‘buyam sellams’, small business operators and start-ups) to possess a simplified ICT based mobile health insurance access that aces the traditional bureaucratic and overly cumbersome insurance policies.
