Accomplishments:
I careered as Primary Teacher, Socio-cultural Animator (Community Development, Bachelor of Social Work) to Art and Dance and Movement Therapist. For 5 years (2004-2009) I worked in Community Development Work in the domain of youth with a main focus upon substance abuse, integration work with foreign youth and female youth. For 3 years I was in leadership function. Throughout my years of academic education i was politically engaged concerning human rights/women rights and integration. In 2010 I successfully founded a unique time-out-project for children and youth with special personalities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, Attention and Hyperactivity Syndrome and substance abuse disorders and lead the program for 4 years. After this period the project could be fully integrated into the education system. Since 2014 I am living in Kilifi, North Coast of Kenya. Through establishing, empowering, capacity building and educating holistically young women groups I got a deep insight into the community. That experience made me decide to create a comprehensive program for young women and mothers (youth) in alcohol and polydrug dependence and closely associated with psychological, sexual, physical and mental abuse and trauma as by now the existing interventions are broadly designed for male youth and alcohol use disorders are minimal addressed and no prevention about alcohol dependence takes place, especially not in respect of young women and mothers.

Description: Designing and development of a female specific program for marginalized young women and mothers in alcohol and polydrug dependence combining reaching out, pre-treatment and treatment, rehabilitation, capacity building and reintegration based on the holistic approach of the alternative medicine including a comprehensive method and case management and the involvement of all spheres of life and individually adjusted
Description:
Young women and Mothers in alcohol and polydrug dependence are at high risk and vulnerable for extremism, radicalism and various kind of abuse. Through their stigma, these young women and mothers face many barriers in accessing support and entering treatment. Shame, guilt and fears are personal obstacles to decide for change nurtured also by family rejection and missing support from partners. Many young women and mothers in dependence are single mothers and engage in random, unprotected sex work to survive and ensure the basic needs for their children.
amescosa Treatment Centre reached out to these women, bridge them with holistic and comprehesiv treatment, detoxification and aftercare and involves in capacity building all spheres of life to reach together with the clients a healthy, self-responsible, self-independent, self-determined and self-reliant life through self-involvement for a fundamental transformation.
amescosa-road to recovery as the over all umbrella of amescosa Treatment Centre is about to break on County level new ground in dependence work in general to challenge the neglect of substance prevention and interventions in respect of alcohol use disorders and to give particularly young women and mothers in alcohol and polydrug dependence a voice. This development shall enhance a functional lobbyin Kilifi County to reunite efforts to eradicate substance abuse and dependence and to improve the life conditions for youth through participation and sustained measures.
