We have started from a simple statement: a parent who is away from his child is not allowed to have a rich a privileged relation with him or her. The problem is affective for the parent: it is very hard to feel the relation with one’s child to wane, and a feeling of guiltiness can appear for the parent. The child who will grow up with only one of his or her two parents will suffer from a lack of emotional environment.
Parents we met are already doing their homework remotely with their children, with difficulty. Some others try to focus on games to spend rich moments with their kids. A lot of parents only use Skype or the phone, and the relation is less and less intense.
That’s why we created Edukily: an application for tablets which allows parents who are away from their children to help them to do their homework and to play remotely, for €4.95 a month.
On one side, we have cooperative games between the parent and the child which includes audio and video.
The homework side includes video call, a shared white board, the access to child’s scanned documents, pedagogical contents, and special tools (calculator, dictionary…).
Besides the parent has access to a wide range of other tools, like an agenda to plan sessions, a historic of the sessions made, or a community to exchange with the other users or with childhood professionals. A strong focus is made on the gamification on the child side in order to make homework fun and Edukily calls a truly pleasant moment for everybody.
